Music for a listening session

Hello everyone,

sometimes I wander through my external hard-drive looking for a specific recording. They are hidden in folders labeled material, NEU or für ein tape. I never find what I am looking for. Today e.g. while looking for a recording I made in Barcelona some years ago (a train, a bird, a broken record, the usual stuff) I found this piece of music I once made for Giovanni Lami, who was curating an exhibition and had (amongst other things) music playing constantly in one of the rooms.

That’s all I remember actually; though the file info tells me that it was last edited: Mittwoch, 23. Mai 2018 um 13:50, which means that I made this on my day off (because here in France schools are closed on Wednesdays) and the time stamp suggest that this was made while my kid was taking a nap; I was probably standing at my so-called desk at that time: a pile of cardboard boxes filled with the things I call my Musikkram: boxes filled with cables and connectors, tape recorders, broken walkman and a bunch of old dictaphones, damaged bells, pencils, plastic boxes & tiny metal objects, a small mixer, flutes, torn appart guitar strings and contact mics sticked to a wooden block using some chewing gum.

Have fun with this one. For the next episode of Faltradio I asked a friend to come up with something.

Have a nice day, C

:-)

So, every once in a while my friend Hano Leucha drops off a tape in my mail-box. Not a wetransfer download nor drop-box thing; no a real cassette tape (recycled tapes mostly) filled with his recent recordings.

He has released a tape on Falt some years ago (wow, already 5 years) named “letter to falt”, some kind of joke between us two; a description of this habit of Hano dropping off the material in the mail box. So here is a tape rip made from a recent drop-off; fade-in and fade-out made by me, otherwise untouched and send out to you without permission.

Also: There is a new batch of Falt-releases out this week. Tapes are mostly sold out already (I am seriously happy about that) but the download is as always nyp. Please go and see for yourself.

There is also a new release by myself - C. - which is available as a (nyp) download now and will be released on a cassette later this fall. A short release (C20) named “oh Trouble”.

Have a great day, I try to make sure to send something next month..

verzcast 005

A radiophonic piece from the falt-multiverse, monthly.

Some years ago (2018) I released a tape named “Nurformal” (only-formal) via an entity called verz. I say entity because I am not good with words but also because this was not only a label but an experimental music imprint which also had it’s own concert series and podcast, all run and directed by Phil Maguire.

The Verzcast 005 was a Chemiefaserwerk mixtape. I asked Phil some weeks ago to write some words about the podcast (and also ask permission to share his mix here).

P: verzcast was a radio show broadcast monthly between May and December 2017 on ResonanceEXTRA (UK). Continuing the original theme of verz - exploring the how and why of ‘quiet’ in experimental music - verzcast featured a deep dive into an artist’s catalogue and practice.

The Chemiefaserwerk episode was broadcast 3rd September 2017 and I cut this thing in half for this transmission. 2nd half will be on here next month.

Please check in with verz here: https://verzimprint.bandcamp.com/music

Have a nice week, I make sure to stay in touch, C.
